is
one workshop in a series of business workshops being created through the Aboriginal Business Service Network, and developed by the Canada-Saskatchewan Business Service Centre and Visions North Community Futures Development Corporation. The intent of the workshop series is to provide you, the small - and medium-sized business owner with types of information you require to become stronger managers and more profitable.

Bookkeeping From A Shoe box is a comprehensive 32 hour workshop being offered by Community Futures Ventures. This workshop takes you though the complete bookkeeping process for one month of a typical retail operation. You will learn how to record your receipts, invoices, till tape (source documents) into a transaction journal. After recording one week of source documents, you will sort the information from your transaction journal to your general ledger and the complete a trial balance. At the end of one month, you will be able to take the information from the trial balance to compete the balance sheet and income statement. You will also learn how to do payroll and how to complete the necessary government forms such as TD1 Forms, PST Return, GST Return, Payroll Remittance Form, Record of Employment Form (ROE), T4 Slips, and T4 Summary.
Once you have completed Bookkeeping From A Shoe box, you will be able to perform the functions necessary to establish and maintain a set of books for a small business.
